The 2009 Cat Fever: Bleeding Blue and White Yearbook was selected as a semi-finalist in the Taylor Publishing Yearbook Yearbook Contest.
Each year, Taylor Publishing Company sponsors a yearbook competition in which all yearbooks they publish are automatically entered. From the over 10,000 books published by Taylor each year, less than 10% are selected as semi-finalists, winning at least an Honorable Mention in the Yearbook Yearbook publication, which features photos and excerpts from the yearbook finalists in the competition. Last year, from over 10,000 books, a total of 974 were featured, selected from a combination of university, high school, and middle school yearbooks from all across the country.
The LWMS Yearbook Staff was notified on Wednesday, October 28, 2009, that our 2009 yearbook, Cat Fever: Bleeding Blue & White, has been selected as a semi-finalist in this year's Yearbook Yearbook competition. Our book will be reviewed, along with the others selected, between now and January by a panel of journalism experts, with the final results being announced in early February 2010. We will receive at least an Honorable Mention in the 2009 Yearbook Yearbook; however, we also have the opportunity to win additional awards in the following categories: Overall Design Concept/Theme Development, Cover Design, Outstanding Spread Design, and/or Outstanding Photography.
We are extremely excited about being selected as a semi-finalist. If we are selected as a finalist, the cover of our book, along with several of the spreads, will be reproduced for other yearbook advisors and their staff members across the country to get ideas from, as well as being featured in the design gallery of the Taylor Publishing Company website and being featured in the new advisor training Taylor offers each summer. Please congratulate the following 8th grade yearbook staff members who worked on last year's book: Jacob Elmore, Brady Holcomb, Kaitlyn Koester, Emily McKnight, and Olivia Mills.
